Grade II* Listed City Centre Office Building To Flats Conversion

Location: Wiltshire

Designed by: Barclay & Phillips Architects, Architects in Salisbury

Completed: 2023

Works by imj architecture:

An exclusive collection of eleven uniquely crafted apartments within a beautiful and notable GII* Listed Georgian property, in a prominent position in the heart of a medieval city.

Planning approval having been granted for the previous owners, the site changed hands with the new owners requiring alterations to the approved designs.

Adopting the role of project lead, we liaised with the building owners on behalf of our client, producing revised designs that allowed for the intricacies of conservation, heritage and planning restrictions.

With Planning and Listed Building consents approved for the revisions, a full set of Building Regulation documents were produced to inform construction.

Regular site meetings were held with the developers and Building Control throughout the works, agreeing, altering and adapting specifications as various construction issues were uncovered.

This was a sensitive and complex project requiring careful consideration of heritage and multiple construction methods.

Additional services were provided to improve the external appearance of the building, with approval gained for the provision of a new wrought iron balustrading to the principal elevation and historic stone entrance steps.
